In a show of solidarity, German basketball national team players Daniel Theis and Dennis Schröder have condemned racist taunts directed at Schröder during a game against Lithuania at the European Championship.

The incident occurred during the game, with some Lithuanian fans making monkey noises at Schröder. A spectator was subsequently banned from attending further games after security reviewed video footage.

Schröder, a 31-year-old point guard, gave his response on the court, according to Theis. However, Schröder was a bit quieter in his public comments, as he expressed that monkey noises are not something he respects or accepts, and that racism has no place in sports.

Theis, who is 33 years old, praised Schröder's mental strength in response to the racist incidents. He also added that Schröder will answer the taunts with his performance on the court.

Theis and Schröder made these comments at a media roundtable on Sunday at the German team hotel in Tampere. Theis also expressed full solidarity with Schröder, stating that they are there for him and stand behind him.

Schröder has known Theis for decades, and their bond was evident as they spoke out against the unacceptable behaviour of the Lithuanian fans. Theis made these comments at the same media roundtable, reiterating his support for Schröder.

This is not the first time that Schröder has faced racial taunts in his career. However, his resilience and determination continue to shine through, as he focuses on his performance on the court. The German national team and their fans stand with him in this difficult time, as they continue their journey in the European Championship.
