In the realm of video games, Hollow Knight Silksong has been making waves, and Shaun Prescott, the Australian editor of PC Gamer with over a decade of experience in the industry, has been one of its latest explorers.

This weekend, Prescott delved into the world of Silksong, and one of the aspects that caught his attention was the game's unique soundtrack. Composer Tee Lopes, known for his work on Sonic Mania and Shredder's Revenge, has contributed to the game's music, creating remixes for characters like Sherma and Shakra.

Sherma, a character in Silksong, produces a discordant melody by whacking two nails together. Despite its discordant nature, Sherma's voice, especially with cavernous reverb applied, is quite lovely. The remix of her jingle resembles saccharine European dance pop from the '90s and early 2000s, a style reminiscent of the Vengaboys or even Shakra themselves. The accompanying video for this remix shows Hornet nodding out of rhythm.

Shakra's remix, on the other hand, sounds similar to something the Vengaboys might have released during their peak popularity. The remix is compared to winning a hypothetical "Top 40" for insects and parasites in Silksong.

Prescott, an avid fan of indie games, obscure Metroidvanias, speedrunning, experimental games, and FPSs, found the music and videos entertaining, although he acknowledges they might be torturous for others. This reflection of the Mandelbrot complexity of human subjectivity is a testament to the game's unique appeal.

One YouTube commenter, @Akif-Faisal, described the entertainment as "what entertainment looks like." However, Sherma's jingle is described as having a low key darkness and could potentially be used towards evil ends.

The article does not contain any advertisements and includes guides, tips, and locations related to Hollow Knight Silksong. Tee Lopes, the composer and musician behind these remixes, has proven yet again his versatility and talent in the world of game music.
