Delhi-born Television Actor Ashish Kapoor Arrested on Rape Allegations
Television actor Ashish Kapoor, known for his roles in popular shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Dekha Ek Khwaab, Molkki - Rishton Ki Agnipariksha, and several others, has been arrested by the Delhi Police in Pune on serious rape allegations.
The alleged incident occurred at a house party in Delhi during the second week of August. An FIR was lodged on August 11 at the Civil Lines police station in Delhi, naming Kapoor, a friend of his, the friend's wife, and two unidentified men as accused.
According to the complainant, Kapoor sexually assaulted her in a bathroom at the party. She also claimed that the assault may have been recorded on video, but no such footage has surfaced so far.
Before transitioning to acting, Kapoor worked as an interior designer in Delhi. He gained popularity with his role in Dekha Ek Khwaab and achieved more mainstream success with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
Kapoor's personal life has also been a topic of interest. He was involved with Albanian model Ilda Kroni for about two years, and engagement rumours surfaced between them, though they were unconfirmed. However, the relationship ended in August 2022.
Prior to Kroni, Kapoor dated his co-star Priyal Gor around 2012. He was also linked with television producer Pearl Grey, whom he got engaged to in 2021. The engagement ended later that year.
Authorities are also questioning other parties named in the complaint, and the investigation remains ongoing. At present, Kapoor remains in custody as police continue their investigation.
Ashish Kapoor's acting career includes appearances in Bandini, Saraswatichandra, Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar, Molkki - Rishton Ki Agnipariksha, Woh Apna Sa, Sasural Simar Ka 2, and the reality show Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage. He has been a regular fixture in the television industry for several years.
