The world of streaming is set to welcome a new thriller with the announcement of Apple TV+'s upcoming limited series, "Cape Fear". Directed by Vincent D'Onofrio in his television directorial debut, this 10-episode series promises to deliver a tense, Hitchcockian thriller that examines America's 21st-century obsession with true crime.

Set in the vibrant cityscape of Los Angeles, California, the story follows the lives of happily married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden, played by Amy Adams and an unspecified actor, respectively. Anna is a prosecutor, while Tom is a criminal defense attorney. Their peaceful lives are disrupted when Max Cady, a notorious killer from their past, re-enters their lives, portrayed by Javier Bardem. Max Cady is a convicted sex offender, adding an extra layer of tension to the narrative.

Javier Bardem's Max Cady is a character that has been adapted into film under the same name twice before, in 1962 and 1991, with J. Lee Thompson and Martin Scorsese directing the previous adaptations under the name "Cape Fear".

The series also boasts an impressive cast, with Ron Perlman, Ted Levine, and Margarita Levieva joining the lineup in recurring roles. The roles of these actors have not been specified yet. Additionally, Patrick Wilson, CCH Pounder, Anna Baryshnikov, Jamie Hector, Lily Collias, Joe Anders, and Malia Pyles are also part of the cast.

"Cape Fear" is produced by New Regency and Anonymous Content, and the series is written by Pete Tolan. The series is executive produced by Steven Zaillian, Jordan Cahan, and Rosalie Swedlin.

The series is set to premiere on Apple TV+ in 2023. Get ready to immerse yourself in a gripping tale of crime, justice, and obsession when "Cape Fear" graces your screens next year."
