As the festive season approaches, the Bundespolizeidirektion München (Federal Police Directorate Munich) has issued general orders to ensure the safety of increased travel during the pre-Christmas period in Bavarian train stations. The orders, which come into effect from November 23rd, 2024, and last until December 24th, 2024, will apply at the Main Stations in Aschaffenburg, Augsburg, Nuremberg, Regensburg, Würzburg, and several stations in Munich, including S-Bahn stops.

The ban on carrying weapons and dangerous objects will be enforced at these locations. The prohibited items include dangerous tools, firearms, imitation firearms, blunt, sharp, and pointed weapons, as well as all types of knives. The ban will be in place at the Main Stations Augsburg, Nuremberg, Regensburg, and Würzburg from November 23rd to December 24th, with specific timings varying slightly for each station. The Main Station Munich (including S-Bahn platforms), East Station, and Pasing Station, as well as the S-Bahn stops Marienplatz and Karlsplatz (Stachus), will be under the ban from November 29th to December 24th. The Main Station Aschaffenburg will be under the ban from November 23rd to December 23rd.

Posters will be displayed in the affected areas to inform about the ban and the general order. The Federal Police will monitor compliance with the ban, and objects found in violation may be seized and an administrative fine may be imposed. Further consequences for violations may include a ban from the premises or a ban from the station.

It is important to note that the administrative fine is independent of any potential criminal or administrative offense proceedings under the Weapons Act. The regulations and exceptions to the ban are included in the general orders, which are published on the Federal Police website.

The carrying of dangerous objects is prohibited during the specified periods for safety reasons, to prevent acts of violence and protect passengers and police officers.

The Federal Police will issue general orders for the main train stations and S-Bahn stops, covering all building parts, including pedestrian tunnels, adjacent platforms, and all publicly accessible levels. The orders are most likely issued due to regional circumstances to ensure the safety of increased travel during the pre-Christmas period in Bavarian train stations.
