Tennis Player Sorana Cirstea's Trophy Stolen from New York Hotel

In an unfortunate turn of events, Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea has had her recently won trophy stolen from her hotel room in New York City. The incident occurred on the night of Saturday, following her elimination from the U.S. Open singles draw.

Cirstea, currently ranked No. 71 in singles and No. 57 in doubles, was staying at The Fifty Sonesta Hotel New York, located in Midtown Manhattan. The hotel, however, has remained silent on the matter, choosing not to comment.

The stolen trophy was the one Cirstea won by beating American Ann Li in straight sets at the Tennis in the Land hard court tournament in Cleveland. This victory marked Cirstea's third career singles title. The trophy holds sentimental value for the tennis player, as it has no material worth.

The theft occurred while Cirstea was still competing in the U.S. Open. In the singles draw, she was eliminated in the second round by No. 11 Karolina Muchova. In the women's doubles draw, Cirstea and her partner Anna Kalinskaya were also eliminated in the first round, losing to Peyton Stearns and McCartney Kessler with scores of 7-5, 6-4.

Despite the theft, Cirstea has chosen to continue her participation in the U.S. Open. She has taken to her Instagram story to plead for the return of her stolen trophy, hoping to reclaim a piece of her hard-earned success.

As of now, there is no public information available about who might have stolen the trophy from room 314 of The Fifty Sonesta Hotel in New York City. The police are investigating the matter, and it is hoped that the trophy will be recovered soon.
