Terrorist arrest: Suspect linked to Islamic State (IS) foreign extremist organization detained

In a significant development, the Federal Prosecutor's Office in Germany announced the arrest of a German citizen, Nadine D., on September 3, 2025. The arrest was carried out by officers of the Düsseldorf Police Presidency.

The arrest warrant, issued by the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice on July 24, 2025, accuses Nadine D. of supporting a foreign terrorist organization and engaging in activities that could potentially harm national and international security.

Since at least 2019, Nadine D. has been running an initiative to provide prisoner aid for members, supporters, and sympathizers of the Islamic State (IS) who are incarcerated in Germany or abroad. She is suspected of recruiting members or supporters for such an organization and soliciting internet users to write letters and photo contributions with IS slogans of perseverance.

Nadine D. is also accused of raising a total of almost 18,000 euros in donations via various online profiles until summer 2024. These funds were forwarded to various beneficiaries or their relatives.
