Tesla enthusiasts flock to the Tesla Diner, a popular gathering spot for followers of Elon Musk
Tesla Diner: A Hub for Elon Musk Fans and Controversy in West Hollywood
In the heart of West Hollywood, California, a unique establishment has become a magnet for both admirers and critics of tech mogul Elon Musk. The Tesla Diner, a restaurant, electric vehicle charging station, drive-in theater, and merchandise shop, opened its doors in July 2023, and since then, it has been a focal point for Musk's followers and detractors alike.
The Tesla Diner, with its rounded edges and curved counters, has 80 supercharger stations surrounding it, making it a convenient stop for Tesla drivers. In fact, customers can order food directly from their cars' touch screens, a testament to the seamless integration of technology and dining.
The diner has become a popular spot for Tesla fan clubs, with regular meetups and coordinated events taking place. One such event was the annual "X Takeover" in Silicon Valley, where a group of fans presented Musk with "thank you" letters and a compilation video.
However, not all neighbours are pleased with the diner's presence. Some have complained about their windows being blocked by the giant movie screen, increased traffic, and noise. The diner has also become a target for protestors, who have voiced their disapproval of Musk's former role in the Trump administration and his public stances on immigration and transgender issues.
Musk's political undertakings have also been a subject of debate. In July 2025, he allegedly registered the political party called "America Party" with the Federal Election Commission in the United States. Some, like John Towe, find Musk's political ambitions impressive, appreciating his ability to ignore public opinion and his vow to start a political party as an example of choosing "a hard path." Others, however, view this move with skepticism.
Inside the diner, a spiral staircase leads to the "Skypad" rooftop, where Tesla and Optimus-branded merchandise is sold. During the diner's opening, an Optimus robot served popcorn on the Skypad. Although the robot was out of service during CNN's visit in mid-August, the Skypad still offers a panoramic view of the city, making it a popular spot for Tesla drivers and visitors alike.
As the Tesla Diner continues to attract attention, both positive and negative, one question remains: will Musk return his focus to his companies, or will his political ambitions continue to shape the landscape of technology and politics? Only time will tell.
