Tesla Launches Model Y Performance in Australia and New Zealand

Tesla has announced the launch of the Model Y Performance in Australia and New Zealand, marking another milestone for the electric vehicle manufacturer. The Model Y Performance offers a premium driving experience with a host of advanced features.

The Model Y Performance accelerates from 0-60 mph in an impressive 3.3 seconds, making it one of the quickest vehicles in its class. Its cabin is equipped with ambient lighting, heated front sport seats with ventilation and adjustable thigh support, and ventilated heated rear seats with power recline. The interior also features carbon fiber trim and a larger 16-inch QHD touchscreen.

The Model Y Performance is the most premium Model Y option in both Australia and New Zealand. It boasts optimized wheels and tires, redesigned front and rear fascias, and a carbon fiber spoiler to improve aerodynamics and stability. The vehicle also offers a range of about 495 km (308 miles) and has upgraded brakes.

However, there has been no announcement or indication that Giga Shanghai has started production of the Model Y Performance. It is possible that Australian Model Y buyers will be getting their new cars from Giga Berlin, not Giga Shanghai. In the United States, Tesla's Fremont factory is likely to be the source of Model Y Performance vehicles for Australia and New Zealand if they are not produced in Shanghai.

The Model Y Performance also includes adaptive damping suspension, extra sound-damping materials and acoustic glass, and a forward-facing bumper camera to enhance Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system. It features staggered wheels and new drive modes, offering a truly dynamic driving experience.

The Model Y Performance is priced at AUD$89,400 in Australia, NZD$100,900 in New Zealand, $81,150 in Canada, and $58,350 in the U.S. First deliveries of the Model Y Performance in Australia are expected to begin in December 2025.
