Tesla unveils improved Model Y performance edition in Europe, featuring an increased price and enhanced driving range compared to previous versions.
The electric vehicle (EV) landscape is set to change once again with the introduction of the Model Y Performance by Tesla. This top-tier variant of the Model Y boasts a host of upgrades, making it an attractive option for those seeking power, efficiency, and range.
The Model Y Performance, priced at 61,990 euros, is set to begin deliveries in September. Produced at Tesla's German factory, this high-performance SUV is designed to deliver performance that's just as good on your daily drive as it is on the open road.
One of the standout features of the Model Y Performance is its improved efficiency. Despite having more power and torque, the Model Y Performance's range is officially listed as only 6 kilometers less than the Model Y Long Range with all-wheel drive. In the German configurator, the new Model Y Performance's range is listed as 580 kilometers, 66 kilometers more than the previous model.
The Model Y Performance's acceleration is another area where it shines. It takes just 3.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, a two-tenths improvement over the standard Model Y. The top speed remains at a impressive 250 kilometers per hour.
The Model Y Performance also boasts a larger battery, significantly increasing its range. The net capacity of the new Model Y Performance's battery pack is 82-84 kilowatt hours, 5 kilowatt hours more than before. This increased capacity is thanks to the improved LG batteries used in the new Tesla Model Y Performance, manufactured by LG Energy Solution (LGES).
The interior of the Model Y Performance has also received an upgrade. Inside, you'll find carbon fiber decor and front seats with more support. The display has been increased to 16 inches, providing a more immersive experience.
Exterior changes include a more pronounced rear spoiler and a special front and rear design for high-speed driving. The Model Y Performance is now available in four variants: Performance, Long Range RWD, Long Range AWD, and the entry-level version with a smaller LFP battery and rear-wheel drive.
The Model Y Long Range RWD costs 49,990 euros, and with all-wheel drive, it costs 52,990 euros. The Model Y Performance, with its improved efficiency, range, and performance, offers a compelling case for those seeking a high-performance electric SUV.
