Testing of Schmidt-Beilhack snowmobile conducted in Norway by PJM

In the picturesque Flåm railway in Norway, PJM, a leading name in railway construction machines and special rail vehicles, has recently completed another significant project. This time, it was the certification tests for a high-performance snow blower manufactured by Aebi Schmidt.

At the helm of PJM is Martin Joch, the CEO of PJ Messtechnik GmbH. His team, experienced in local standards and regulations as well as international project management, conducted the tests meticulously. The 80-ton snow blower, a behemoth in the winter equipment world, is a product of Aebi Schmidt.

Thomas Kaiser, the project manager at Aebi Schmidt, explained that these tests would provide them with necessary data for certification and valuable insights for the further development of their snow blowers. The precise measurement results from the tests would help Aebi Schmidt to optimize the performance, safety, and reliability of their snow blowers.

The tests included brake tests, which were part of the comprehensive suite of tests conducted by PJM. The measurement technology team at PJM has years of experience in testing different types of rail vehicles, and their expertise extends to testing rail vehicles according to local standards and regulations.

PJM's collaboration with Aebi Schmidt is not a one-off event. In fact, PJM has been testing various well-known special vehicles for certifications in multiple parts of Europe in recent years. The ongoing tests by PJM also include acoustic measurements for occupational safety, which are set to be carried out in autumn.

Thomas Meier, the project manager at Aebi Schmidt who conducted the tests with the snowplow, expressed confidence in the collaboration. Aebi Schmidt's snow blower is set to be deployed for Norwegian rail infrastructure operator Bane NOR in the future.

This project is just one part of PJM's broader portfolio of railway construction machines and special rail vehicles projects. As winter approaches, PJM continues to play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of rail operations in challenging weather conditions.
