The Attraction of Inked Fingerspaces

In the sun-soaked shores of Cyprus, the reality TV show OD Chypre has made a grand entrance. The first episode, aired on Noovo, introduced 18 new singles ready to mingle and make waves.

The contestants, a diverse group hailing from various parts of Quebec, have modernized the classic "mullet" hairstyle, resembling either contestants in a Benson Boone look-alike contest or members of a junior hockey team. Among them are Charles, a 24-year-old electrician from Gatineau, who is known for his tattoos, muscular build, and his side hustle of repairing leather sofas.

Naomi, a web producer, is another contestant who has caught the eye of viewers. At 28 years old, she requested a man with tattoos on his hands, and her fascination with watching herself on the show seems reminiscent of Narcissus or Yorick who fell in love with their reflections. However, her presence on the show has generated a lot of discussions, often for negative reasons.

One of the most intriguing characters is Beatrice, a 23-year-old sexology student from Quebec, and Mathis, a 23-year-old landscaper from Rosemere. The duo is labeled as the two biggest threats and troublemakers in the house.

The production team of OD Chypre has brought back reality TV's more sulfurous and stereotypical origins, much like the production team of OD Chypre's predecessor, OD Tentations au soleil, hosted by Maripier Morin on Crave. Morin, known for her natural, lively, and spontaneous hosting style, hosted a segment shot on a yacht during the show.

The participants in OD Chypre are not just eye candy; they are also TV enthusiasts. They know their OD classics, as evidenced by their reference to the famous balcony scene from Occupation double Portugal in 2011.

However, not everyone is immune to the drama. Marie-May, a 25-year-old yoga teacher from Laval, is likely to lose her zen demeanor in the heat of the competition. Laurie, the personal trainer from Trois-Rivières, shares a similar energy with Solène, last year's winner of Occupation double.

The outdoor furniture at the new seaside villa, particularly the lounge chairs near the pool, has impressed Naomi, a former Urbania employee. But the drama doesn't stop there. Lauriane, a waitress, was seen kissing multiple contestants on the yacht, while Jeremy, a 31-year-old prison guard from Mascouche, had no idea where Cyprus was on a world map.

The first episode of OD Chypre has set the stage for a drama-filled season. Two participants, Claudia, a real estate broker, and Yorick, a "formats collation" enthusiast, have already been eliminated from the game. As Elisa, a 23-year-old hairstylist from Saint-Lin-Laurentides, put it, the main question is whether the guys will make a splash. Tune in to find out!
