The Commission has not yet determined the precise figure for the aid allocation.
In the heart of Dresden, the Canaletto City Festival was a bustling scene, but the Dresden Fire and Rescue Service was also hard at work. Yesterday, they responded to a record-breaking 314 deployments, the highest number this year.
The deployments were not all emergencies. Most were false alarms due to automatic fire alarm systems or smoke detectors, with two cases involving burnt food that could have potentially sparked fires.
The rescue service was called upon at the festival itself, dealing with a variety of medical cases. Treatments included circulatory problems, sprained joints, complaints after insect bites, allergic reactions, symptoms of alcohol poisoning, and treatment for individuals affected by pepper spray. A total of 37 patients were treated medically at the three accident assistance points in Sophienstraße, Hauptstraße, and Wilsdruffer Straße.
In 83 of these cases, an emergency doctor was deployed. Six intensive care transports and 178 qualified patient transports were carried out. Fortunately, only 12 affected individuals were transported to Dresden hospitals on the first day of the event, a decrease from the 48 people treated and 11 hospitals transported to on the first day of the event in 2024.
The rescue helicopter Christoph 38 was used four times. Noteworthy is the incident around 23:17, where callers reported a person in the Elbe. However, the deployment was called off during the approach as the person saved themselves to the shore.
The fire department carried out 24 assistance operations, including containing leaking hazardous materials, providing carrying assistance for the rescue service, and opening doors to provide medical care.
Fire lieutenant candidates will be available with a fire engine to answer questions. The contact for inquiries is the Fire Department Dresden Press Office: Michael Klahre (0351/8155-295, 0160-96328780, [email protected]).
The Dresden Fire Department will also be present at the Saxon State Parliament's Blue Light Mile until Sunday. For more information, visit https://www.dresden.de/feuerwehr. Craft bags of the fire engine have been prepared for little visitors, making the event an educational and engaging experience for all.
