News Article: Educational Training Session in MINT National Park Region Hunsrück-Hochwald Plus

On September 25, 2025, a practical training session for educational professionals is being hosted by the MINT National Park Region Hunsrück-Hochwald Plus. The session, taking place from 9:00 to 13:00, will be held at the National Park Gate Keltenpark in Nonnweiler-Otzenhausen.

The training session is co-organized by several partners, including the WasserWissensWerk Kempfeld, the Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld, the waste management department of Birkenfeld, the Naturpark Saar-Hunsrück, and the National Park Hunsrück-Hochwald. The focus of the session will be on climate protection, water treatment, waste avoidance, and digital learning concepts.

Participants will embark on a four-kilometer hiking trail between the Koppbruchweiher and the Primstalsperre. Along the way, they will engage with environmental education topics interactively at five stations. One of the highlights will be the presentation of a new 1.5-kilometer circular trail with listening stations about the Steinbachtalsperre and regional climate change.

At WasserWissensWerk, participants will learn more about water cycles and quality. The training session will also feature the new BNE module "Rudi Regenwurm makes school" from the Naturpark Saar-Hunsrück. Basic knowledge on ecological processes in the wilderness will be provided at the Koppbruchweiher.

In addition, the waste management department of Birkenfeld will present its "waste suitcase" for kindergartens and primary schools. An exchange on educational materials related to waste management is invited at the training session.

The IoT workshop of the Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld will demonstrate how digital technology can enrich teaching, including CO2 traffic lights and interactive circuit boards. The National Park Hunsrück-Hochwald will inform about an educational offer on the traces of animal landscape designers, with a focus on beavers.

Participation in the training session is free, and it is primarily intended for teachers and educators in the region, but is also open to interested individuals. Weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear are recommended.

Unfortunately, I do not have access to specific participant lists for the internship Wednesday on September 24, 2025, at the Nationalparktor Keltenpark in Nonnweiler-Otzenhausen. However, all are welcome to join the educational training session on September 25.
