In the heart of Dresden, the Canaletto City Festival was bustling with activity, but behind the scenes, the Dresden Fire Department was hard at work. Yesterday marked a significant day for the rescue service, with a total of 43 deployments recorded - the highest number this year.

The Dresden Fire Department's cadets were on hand with a fire engine to answer questions and provide assistance. Among the deployments, 24 were assistance tasks, including containing leaking hazardous materials, providing carrying assistance for the rescue service, and unlocking doors to provide medical care to helpless individuals in their apartments.

The majority of yesterday's deployments were false alarms caused by automatic fire alarm systems or smoke detectors. However, in two cases, smoke detectors prevented a worse outcome, as neighbours alerted the fire department in time due to burnt food causing smoke.

Inquiries can be directed to the Fire Department Dresden Press Office, contact information available upon request. The Dresden Fire Department will be present at the Blue Light Mile at the Saxon State Parliament until Sunday.

At the Canaletto City Festival, the rescue service was called upon to treat 48 people and transport 11 to hospitals on the first day of the event. A total of 37 patients were treated medically at the three accident aid stations on Sophienstraße, Hauptstraße, and Wilsdruffer Straße during the first day of the event. The range of treatments included circulatory problems, sprained joints, complaints after insect bites, allergic reactions, symptoms of alcohol poisoning, and treatments due to an altercation involving pepper spray.

In a close call, callers reported a person in the Elbe, but the deployment was discontinued during the approach, as the person was able to save themselves to the shore.

Six intensive care transports and 178 qualified patient transports were carried out. The rescue service was also called upon at the Canaletto City Festival, where they responded to several deployments.

Despite the high temperatures and the expected increase in circulatory problems, the number of deployments on the first day of the event remained below the level of 2024.

The Bergwacht (Mountain Rescue Service) was prominently active in coordinated rescue efforts nearby, but no direct information about Dresden in the last 24 hours was found in the search results.

A total of 12 affected individuals were transported to Dresden hospitals by ambulance on the first day of the event. The rescue helicopter Christoph 38 took off four times in the control center area.

Craft bags of the fire engine have been prepared for little visitors to assemble on site and take home. The Dresden Fire Department recorded a total of 314 deployments in the past 24 hours, which is the highest number this year.
