The Hessian Ministry of Labor, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs (HMSI) recently organised an expert dialogue at the Naturpädagogisches Zentrum Fasanerie in Wiesbaden, marking the beginning of a new statewide event series focusing on climate education in early childhood education.

Approximately 50 early childhood education specialists gathered at the Fasanerie, an outstanding institution in Wiesbaden known for its nature pedagogical offers and its network in climate education. State Secretary Manuela Strube emphasised the importance of practical offers for integrating climate education into kindergartens and daycare in a playful way during the opening of the dialogue.

Kerstin Jacobs from the Coordination Office Climate Education Landscape Wiesbaden made a statement about the event series, stating that it aimed to help specialists understand and learn how to protect the planet. The event series will continue with further dialogue formats, planned in cooperation with regional partners such as PLANT-FOR-THE-PLANET, an organisation supporting young people interested in climate justice and environmental protection, offering practical experience and educational programs.

The gathering focused on implementing climate protection, climate change adaptation, and sustainability in early childhood education. Councilwoman Bettina Gies hosted the event and highlighted the groundwork laid since the 1980s in the climate education landscape in Wiesbaden, which has a successful, careful, and cross-departmental foundation.

Mayor Christiane Hinninger expressed delight that the expert dialogue took place at the Fasanerie. Specialists at the event could connect with regional offers, which strengthens the quality of educational work. The responsible department or office can be contacted by citizens with any questions.

The HMSI, the Green Space Department, Coordination Office Climate Education Landscape Wiesbaden, and the Social Affairs Office, Department of Kindergartens and Daycare, of the state capital Wiesbaden were the organisers of the event.
