In the world of gaming mods, one modder named InfernoPlus is making waves with an ambitious project: porting the classic Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind into the award-winning Elden Ring.

Morrowind, first released in 2002, is renowned for its alien-esque atmosphere, rich lore, and gameplay mechanics that promote buildcrafting experimentation. The combat, using a dice roll-based system, adds an element of unpredictability to the game.

InfernoPlus asserts that the mod doesn't violate any copyright laws as it requires owning and installing legitimate copies of both Morrowind and Elden Ring to work. The modder is seeking help from 3D artists to create higher-quality versions of Morrowind's weapons and armor for the project.

The mod aims to transform Morrowind into a Soulslike game using the engine of Elden Ring. Roughly half of the project is already complete or close to it, including the map, lighting, weather, atmosphere, and NPC placements and dialogues. InfernoPlus is confident that the aforementioned problems can be fixed as long as he gets some outside assistance.

One of the key challenges is solving the "c0 limit" issue and generating navmeshes, which requires help from someone experienced with FromSoftware's "Dantelion" game engine.

InfernoPlus plans to "Morrowindify" Elden Ring's enemies with reskins for the game's encounters, including a potential reskin of the endgame Hoarah Loux boss as Dagoth Ur.

The Elden Ring PC version is currently on sale for $35.09 at Loaded (formerly CDKeys), while the Steam version of Morrowind can be purchased for $7.49 at GOG.COM INT. However, it may be beneficial to wait for Morrowind to go on sale on Steam for compatibility with the project.

Mods can be used to mitigate the dated feel of Morrowind on PC, and this project includes the world spaces, quests, and dialogue exchanges from the original Morrowind game. An Elder Scrolls Dev Discord server has been set up for those who want to help with this mod.

With the help of the gaming community, InfernoPlus's project promises to bring a fresh take on a classic RPG, blending the best of Morrowind's lore and gameplay with the challenging combat and immersive world of Elden Ring.
