The European Commission Introduces a Novel Strategy to Boost Quality of Life Across the European Union
The Association for Crime Prevention in Gießen, in collaboration with the city and district of Gießen, is set to host the Crime Prevention Award for the second time in 2026. This prestigious award, endowed with 1500 €, aims to recognise and celebrate projects that strive to protect against crime in various sectors such as schools, youth, neighbourhoods, associations, care for the elderly, sports, and more.
Siegfried Schulz, the chairman of the Association for Crime Prevention, hopes that the award will inspire others to engage in crime prevention. Projects aimed at reducing crime are eligible for the award, and a brief description of the project, not exceeding one A4 page, is sufficient for application.
Individuals or groups can apply for the award, and engaged individuals or groups can also be nominated by third parties. More information about the Crime Prevention Award in 2026 and the Association for Crime Prevention Gießen can be found on their website [www.kriminalpraevention-our website]. Applications and nominations can be sent by email to info@[kriminalpraevention-our website].
The jury for the Crime Prevention Award in 2026 includes high-ranking members such as Landratin Anita Schneider and Mayor Frank-Tilo Becher. The goal of the award is to make visible the actions taken in the region and serve as an impulse for others to also engage in crime prevention.
The Crime Prevention Award in 2026 is supported by the district of Gießen, the city of Gießen, the police headquarters of Central Hesse, and the State School Office. The deadline for individuals and groups wishing to apply for the award is December 31, 2025.
The first round of the Crime Prevention Award was held in 2024, and the winners were not publicly disclosed. The Association for Crime Prevention Gießen has been supporting projects in schools, kindergartens, and associations and offering further training events since 1992.
For those interested in contributing to a safer community, this is an excellent opportunity to showcase their efforts and inspire others to follow in their footsteps. The Crime Prevention Award in 2026 promises to be a significant event in the region, and we encourage everyone to participate and submit their projects.
