44 Students Gather in Alpbach for European Law Course

A group of 44 students from across Austria recently participated in a university course focused on European law, held in the picturesque town of Alpbach. The course, which ran from August 1 to 20, was taught by professors from the faculties of law in Austria and southern Germany.

Dr. Julia Schmoll from the Constitutional Service in the Federal Chancellery provided insights into practice during the course, offering invaluable real-world perspectives to the students. The course covered key aspects of European law, providing a comprehensive understanding of the subject.

As the course concluded, the students faced a three-hour written exam, which is recognized as a European law exam at all Austrian faculties of law. This exam not only tested their knowledge but also opened doors for their future careers in the field.

In addition to the academic sessions, an exchange with European Minister Claudia Plakolm on current EU developments is scheduled to take place at the Federal Chancellery in Vienna in early September. This event promises to provide the students with a unique opportunity to engage with a high-level EU official and gain insights into the current state of the European Union.

The teacher for the course was Klaus-Dieter Borchardt, a renowned expert in European law. His expertise and the insights provided by Dr. Schmoll undoubtedly made the course an enriching experience for all the participants.

This university course in Alpbach not only offered a deep dive into European law but also provided a platform for students to network and learn from each other. It is a testament to the importance of education in understanding and shaping the future of Europe.
