In the picturesque Rhön village of Empfertshausen, a significant milestone was reached as the community celebrated its 1200-year anniversary. The opening ceremony took place on Saturday at the Redeemer Church, attracting a diverse crowd of guests from politics, the church, and the region.
Mayor Antonio Haéfner opened the jubilee, expressing gratitude to numerous sponsors, supporters, and helpers. The main sponsor for the celebrations was highlighted as the Z-Bau company, with the Rhönbrauerei Kaltennordheim taking the role as the main sponsor for the 1200-year anniversary.
State parliamentarian Martin Henkel (CDU) praised the celebrations, commending the strong social cohesion in the town. Dr. Michael Brodführer, district administrator, displayed visible emotion during his greeting, expressing pride in the community's rich history.
The festive service began with Pastor Silke Glöckner reflecting on 1200 years of local history and pondering how people might have lived back then. The pastor quoted from the Epistle to the Hebrews, saying, "Jesus Christ yesterday, today, and the same for eternity."
A musical accompaniment for the service was provided by the choir "TonArt", the association De Nedertshüuser e.V., community pedagogue Ellen Schmuck, organist Stephan Ader, and others. The evening was further enlivened by the music groups "RhönFieber" and "Aufgebrasst".
A highlight of the event was the tapping of a special anniversary Kellerpils brewed by the Rhönbrauerei Kaltennordheim. The beer barrel was ceremoniously tapped, signifying the start of the festivities.
Guests were welcomed by an honorary salute from the SSV "Germania 1990" Empfertshausen. The official opening of the anniversary celebrations took place in the festival tent, filled to the last seat.
For the Z-Bau GmbH, managing director Mike Kregel spoke and assured continued support for the town. Many mayors and local mayors from the surrounding area also attended the event.
The service concluded with a minute of silence at the memorial for the fallen in front of the church. A poignant moment was also marked as a wreath was laid on the cemetery, and candles were lit for the deceased.
As the sun set, Empfertshausen celebrated its rich history and looked forward to the future, united in their shared pride and love for their community. The 1200-year anniversary celebrations in Empfertshausen were indeed a memorable occasion, filled with tradition, music, and camaraderie.
