The Inquiry into Employment Matters
In the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland, German national coach Julian Nagelsmann is set to make five changes to his starting lineup. This decision comes as a response to the team's recent performances, including a disappointing 0:2 loss in Slovakia.
Waldemar Anton, David Raum, Robin Koch, Jamie Leweling, and Pascal Groß are expected to replace Jonathan Tah, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Angelo Stiller, Leon Goretzka, and Nnamdi Collins. The exact positions of these new players are yet to be confirmed, but Pascal Groß could potentially start on the right, with Joshua Kimmich remaining in midfield.
Nagelsmann has developed a new strategy involving changes in personnel due to the unavailability of key players like Musiala, Havertz, and Kleindienst. The coach is focusing on the game itself, rather than just qualification, expressing his determination to improve the team's performance.
The match, scheduled for Sunday at 8:45 PM in Cologne, is significant not only for the World Cup qualifiers but also as a chance to turn the team's fortunes around. Rudi Völler, the sports director, showed his support for Nagelsmann by putting his arm around him at the start of the final training session.
Not all ten field players will be rotated. Oliver Baumann, the goalkeeper, has emphasised the importance of "energy, tackling, and winning second balls" after the team's "lifeless" performance in Slovakia. The national coach is preparing for the 25th match as the coach of the German football national team.
Mats Hummels, a key figure in the 2014 World Cup-winning team, will be honoured for his services during the match. An emotional player like Robert Andrich could play alongside Kimmich.
Florian Wirtz, who was trained as a youth player at FC Cologne, could be in the spotlight in Cologne due to his form since his move to Liverpool. Wirtz remains an essential and untouchable difference-maker for Nagelsmann.
The match will be broadcast on RTL. Nagelsmann has called for "emotional football" and an "energetic togetherness" for the upcoming match. There is concern among some football fans in Germany due to the team's recent performances, but the coach is hopeful that these changes will bring about a positive shift.
