"The LA event, 'BAKERU' exhibition, is being extended to October 20th, driven by audience interest and demand."

Japan House LA has announced exciting updates to their current exhibition, "BAKERU: Transforming Spirits," and upcoming events. The exhibition, originally scheduled to end on October 20, has been extended due to its popularity.

The participatory exhibition invites visitors to step into the supernatural world of Japanese folk traditions from Tohoku, Japan. WOW, the creative studio behind the project, aims to enhance understanding of regional cultures, particularly those from Tohoku. The collaborative effort between Japan Society and Japan Design Council has created an immersive experience that harnesses interactive digital technology, allowing broader access to local culture for audiences beyond the region, including younger, digital-native generations.

To make the experience even more engaging, a mask-making workshop, the "BAKERU Mask Making Workshop," will be offered as part of the extended exhibition period, although a specific date has yet to be announced.

For those who wish to take home a piece of the exhibition, a contest is running where consumers can enter to win their own personal Bakeru mask. To participate, simply post a museum selfie with the hashtags #JapanHouseLA and #BAKERU on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.

In addition to the extended exhibition, Japan House LA is hosting a gastronomy event, the "Japanese Food Lab Presents Tohoku Izakaya Night," on October 6 at their Salon on Level 5. Tickets for this event are $65.

The BAKERU Workshop, located at the Sub-Gallery on Level 2, is available daily, while supplies last, for a fee of $5. For more information about the workshop, follow Japan House LA on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. The workshop hours are from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Japan House LA is an innovative, worldwide project with three hubs, London, Los Angeles, and São Paulo, conceived by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Los Angeles location occupies two floors at Hollywood & Highland, featuring a gallery space on the 2nd floor and a Japanese restaurant, relaxing library, and event venue on the 5th floor.

The exhibition is made possible in collaboration with ANA (All Nippon Airways), Panasonic, Gyouzanryu Maikawa Shishiodori, Tokyo Shishiodori, Oga City, Baba no Taue Odori Preservation Society, FabLab Sendai FLAT, Fukunaga Print Co., Ltd., cap LLC., Ito Yutaka, and Hollywood & Highland.
