Avtomobilist Jekaterinburg Prepares for New KHL Season with Ambitious Goals

As the 2025 KHL season approaches, Avtomobilist Jekaterinburg is gearing up for an exciting campaign with a new-look squad and high expectations.

The club has made targeted player acquisitions in the off-season, with the most notable addition being forward Reid Boucher, who joins the team following a successful stint elsewhere. Joining Boucher are Roman Gorbunov, Egor Chernikov, Yaroslav Busygin, and Dmitriy Yudin, bolstering the team's forward and defensive lines.

However, the club has suffered a significant blow with the injury of forward Curtis Valk, who is currently undergoing treatment. The team is still searching for a player to fill the attacking defender position, as defender Nick Ebert's contract was not activated due to his inability to pass a medical examination and personal circumstances.

Avtomobilist's head coach, Nikolai Zavarukhin, expects to showcase attacking hockey in the new season. The team will kick off its campaign on September 8 against Lada in Tolyatti, with its first home game scheduled for September 15 against Salavat Yulaev.

Alexei Zavarukhin, Nikolai's assistant coach, will also be a familiar face on the bench, having served as head coach of Traktor during the 2023/2024 season, where he and Nikolai Zavarukhin led their respective teams to KHL bronze medals.
