In an exciting development for fans of Robert Jordan's epic fantasy series, Iwot Studios has announced plans to adapt "The Wheel of Time" into an open-world role-playing game (RPG). The studio, formerly known as Red Eagle Entertainment, acquired the rights to the franchise back in 2004 but has only recently begun work on the project.

Iwot co-founder Rick Selvage and game studio head Craig Alexander have confirmed their commitment to the project, addressing skepticism among fans. They aim to deliver on their promises in a way that will please fans, acknowledging the immense task of building out the entire world of the Wheel of Time.

Alexander likens the strategy for the game to that of a live-service game, with plans to support the franchise for the long term. The game is not expected to be a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, but rather a single-player game with a dash of multiplayer, similar to Baldur's Gate 3.

The development process will take time, with sequels, downloadable content (DLC), and expansion paths planned to "build out as much of the world as possible." Making the first game is considered the "most difficult" part of the development process, with a focus on ensuring a high-quality release.

As of now, there is no publicly available detailed schedule for the development of the Wheel of Time RPG by Iwot Studios. The game is being considered for a specific setting and consoles, but no further details have been provided.

Iwot Studios is currently in the pre-production phase for the game, looking for leadership, a team to build out the prototype, and eventually hiring a staff of up to 300 to develop the full project. The studio aims to treat the game similarly to the Wheel of Time show and upcoming prequel movie.

The Prime Video show based on the Robert Jordan novels has just wrapped up its third season, and Selvage believes it's the "right time" to start working on a game. Iwot Studios' acquisition and development of the Wheel of Time game comes at an exciting time for fans of the beloved series.
