Thief swipes coveted Holden collector's edition from unsuspecting grandfather, causing shock

In the western suburbs of Sydney, a man named Stephen Buttigieg has found himself in a difficult situation after his prized possession, a $120,000 Holden GTS, was stolen. The theft occurred in Bonnyrigg Heights, and the thief, who goes by the name "Brendon", posed as a potential buyer on Facebook Marketplace.

According to Buttigieg, the thief was well-dressed and asked detailed questions about the vehicle. The Holden GTS, a high-performance vehicle, had been stored in a garage and never driven, serving as a "nest egg" for Buttigieg. Unfortunately, it was not covered by insurance because it was not regularly used.

The theft occurred when Buttigieg was checking the boot of the car. The thief claimed there was a problem with the boot light to distract Buttigieg while he made his getaway. Security camera footage captured the theft, but as of now, there is no publicly available information about the perpetrator or details about the location of such a crime.

Buttigieg described the thief as seeming genuine and claiming to work at a car yard. He plans to sell the Holden GTS to help his sons enter the property market. The theft has left him feeling upset, as he had worked hard to provide for his family.

Detectives are urging anyone with information about the theft to come forward. Police are currently searching for both the man and the stolen Holden GTS. The theft was reported by 9News.
