Thieves Apprehended in the Act: Car theft incidents in Poland and Hungary
In an unexpected turn of events, two car thieves were caught red-handed in Hagen early Sunday morning. The incident unfolded on Körnerstraße at 2:20 AM, as a witness observed two individuals tampering with a parked Mercedes Vito.
The 39-year-old witness, who was in a nearby café, quickly sprang into action. He ran across the street towards the suspected thieves, gesturing and shouting to draw their attention. His timely intervention alerted a passing police patrol car, which promptly responded to the scene.
The two car thieves, it was later discovered, were brothers and residents of Hagen. They claimed that they did not intend to steal the car, but rather wanted to record video footage of the interior. However, their actions were deemed suspicious enough to warrant an arrest.
The Mercedes Vito, which was up for sale at a local used car dealership, was secured for evidence and investigation. A report for attempted motor vehicle theft was filed, and the two thieves were temporarily detained.
The Hagen Police officers, who arrived on the scene, arrested one thief in the driver's seat, while the witness managed to physically intervene and hold onto the other in the passenger seat.
