In North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), a record number of 3,000 new police cadets are set to begin their training in September, marking the third consecutive year of significant recruitment. This expansion is a testament to the strengthened personnel recruitment efforts by the NRW police force, which has been actively seeking to increase the number of applicants for police training.

The drive to recruit more police cadets was initiated by the relevant authorities in NRW, with the target set at 10,500 applications for this year. The Ministry of the Interior in Düsseldorf announced that they have surpassed this target, with over 10,500 applications received.

Herbert Reul, a CDU member, highlighted the commitment of many women and men choosing to serve the state and protect society through the police in NRW. He emphasised that this commitment is a strong signal and a great vote of confidence in the police of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The police in NRW have expanded their training capacities in recent years to accommodate the increasing number of recruits. The training is being conducted by the police in NRW, and it is now possible to start a career with the police in NRW with a Realschulabschluss.

Moreover, the police in NRW have strengthened their recruitment efforts with innovative formats, including the active recruitment of former reservists. This move is aimed at tapping into the potential of individuals who have already demonstrated their commitment to serving their community.

The minimum height requirement for police applicants in NRW has also been lowered, making it easier for a wider range of individuals to apply. This decision is part of the task force's efforts to increase the number of police cadet applications.

Currently, approximately 60,000 people work for the police in NRW, with over 41,000 of them being uniformed police officers in NRW. The increase in new recruits will undoubtedly contribute to the maintenance of law and order in the region.

The recruitment drive in NRW is a positive step towards ensuring a well-equipped and diverse police force, ready to serve and protect the citizens of North Rhine-Westphalia.
