Three individuals discovered deceased within a manhole following a toxic gas emission from the sewage system, according to an official report.

Tragically, a third worker entered the manhole in an attempt to save the others, but all three succumbed to the effects of the toxic gas present at the scene.

The toxic gas detected was hydrogen sulfide, a highly dangerous and potentially lethal substance. The third worker's gas meter showed a reading of H2S, confirming the presence of hydrogen sulfide gas.

Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace stated that water levels had to be lowered underground so first responders could gain safe access to the bodies. The recovery of all three bodies occurred after 6:30 p.m.
