"Three TV shows" airing at Rocklturm

The highly anticipated exhibition "Aussicht" by artist Silvia Menzel is set to grace the Röcklturm from May 4th to June 2nd, 2025. The exhibition will officially be opened on May 3rd, with Deputy Mayor Ludwig Zellner speaking at the vernissage, replacing Mayor Alexander Putz who is unavailable.

Menzel will be present during the weekend of the exhibition, introducing her work to visitors. The exhibition will feature three series created between 2021 and the present day, showcased in the five rooms made available to visual artists by the Cultural Department of the city from May to September.

The first series, "Travel Scenes", transports viewers to countries explored by Georg Forster, whose works are also part of the exhibition. This series is inspired by English travel writer Bruce Chatwin, exploring the idea that humans are inherently nomadic.

The "Once Upon a Time" series was sparked by the clearing out of Forster's parents' home. It reflects on the rapid change in living and working conditions in just one generation, using a reduced color palette of black, white, and grayscale to capture the former lifestyle.

The final series, "End of Singularity", explores the concept of the Big Bang through abstract, expressive compositions in bold colors. Dynamic brushstrokes and color transitions lend drama to the pieces in this series. Forster comments that perhaps a remnant of this nature is still present in our genes, drawing us to distant lands.

Georg Forster will also be present during the weekends of the exhibition. He will introduce his works at the vernissage.

The Röcklturm, originally a watchtower in the medieval city walls, now houses the literature café and the exhibition rooms. The exhibition is open from Thursday to Sunday, 1 to 5 PM, and additionally whenever the literature café is open, which is usually the case on nice weather days.
