Ties between India and the US are considered very favorable by Indian Prime Minister Modi, following periods of tension with former president Trump concerning Pakistan's ceasefire.

Ties between India and the US are being described as 'very positive' by Prime Minister Modi, following a period of strain under former President Trump, particularly with regards to the Pakistan ceasefire issue.

In a recent conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the leaders reaffirmed their strong bond and positive relationship that has spanned Trump's first term.

The conversation took place on Saturday, following strains in the relationship, with the U.S. imposing tariffs of up to 50% on Indian imports. These tariffs were due to accusations that India is fueling Moscow's deadly attacks on Ukraine by purchasing Russian oil.

Despite the tensions, Trump reaffirmed his personal friendship with Modi and downplayed earlier remarks about "losing India" to China. Modi, in turn, stated that the ties between India and the United States are "very positive" and that the two countries share a "very positive and forward-looking comprehensive and global strategic partnership."

Modi also wrote on X that he deeply appreciates and fully reciprocates Trump's sentiments and positive assessment of their ties. Trump told reporters that there is nothing to worry about regarding the relationship between India and the United States, stating that he "will always be friends with Modi."

The exchange occurred amidst Modi's recent visit to China, marking his first visit to the country in seven years and signaling a thaw between the two Asian powers. However, the strains in the relationship between India and the United States, including the imposition of tariffs, have not been addressed in the recent conversation.

The U.S.-India relationship has been positive and forward-looking, as stated by both leaders. The strong bond between Trump and Modi has been a key factor in this positive relationship, and the leaders have consistently expressed their mutual respect and admiration for each other.

In the past, Trump has expressed irritation towards New Delhi as he seeks credit for brokering peace between Pakistan and India. However, India adamantly rejects any third-party mediation on Kashmir, a long-standing dispute between the two South Asian nations.

Despite these challenges, the U.S.-India relationship remains an important one, with both countries sharing common interests and values. The leaders' recent conversation serves as a reminder of the strength of their bond and the potential for continued cooperation between the two nations.
