In the ongoing US Open, several noteworthy events have unfolded.

The first round of the tournament saw a significant upset as 20-year-old Eala, a left-hander from the Philippines, claimed victory over Danish player Clara Tauson, the world No. 15. This marks Eala's first win in the main draw of a Grand Slam and makes her the first woman from her country to reach the main draw of the US Open.

Meanwhile, the 2021 US Open champion, Emma Raducanu, ended her losing streak at the US Open with a decisive win. Raducanu, who is the only tennis player to have won a Grand Slam title after coming through qualifying to secure a place in the main draw of the tournament, defeated Ena Shibahara 6-1, 6-2. Her victory marks her first match win at the US Open since her title win in 2021.

Aryna Sabalenka, the defending US Open champion, also advanced to the second round. Sabalenka, who has reached two Grand Slam finals this year (Australian Open and Roland-Garros), overcame a hesitant start against Rebeka Masarova. After falling behind at 5-5 in the first set, Sabalenka turned the match around, winning seven games in a row to secure a 7-5, 6-1 victory.

In the second round, Sabalenka will face Polina Kudermetova. Kudermetova's opponent was initially Nuria Parrizas Diaz, but the Spanish player was forced to retire due to injury.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Jessica Pegula, the fourth seed, and Jasmine Paolini, ranked seventh, each won in straight sets. Pegula defeated Australian player Destanee Aiava, while Paolini overcame Egyptian player Mayar Sherif.

Tjen, who became the first player from Indonesia to reach the main draw of a Grand Slam since the US Open in 2004, extended her run by defeating world No. 25 Veronika Kudermetova. Tjen will face Raducanu in the second round of the US Open.

As the tournament progresses, fans can look forward to more exciting matches and potential upsets. Stay tuned for updates on your favourite players!
