Top Three Innovations on the Pixel Watch 4 Worthy of Emulation by Apple and Samsung
The tech giant Google has unveiled its latest smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 4, as part of its new Pixel 10 family. The Pixel Watch 4, while taking a backseat to its cellular siblings at the launch event, promises to challenge the dominance of smartwatches from Samsung and Oppo with its impressive features.
One of the standout features of the Pixel Watch 4 is its 100x zoom capability, designed to rival the best smartphone cameras from Samsung and Oppo. This feature, along with the new MagSafe-like Pixelsnap magnetic wireless charging, was highlighted at the launch event.
The Pixel Watch 4 also boasts a larger display (10% larger than the Pixel Watch 3) and smaller bezels (16% smaller), making it more stylish and user-friendly. The device's specifications bring it on par with the best smartwatches, such as Samsung's Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
But the Pixel Watch 4 isn't just about impressive hardware. It also comes with innovative software features. The AI Health Coach, powered by Gemini AI, is designed to be the best use of AI on a wearable device. It evaluates and sets fitness goals, provides recommendations on achieving them, and even offers tailored exercise plans. A demonstration showed it providing trend data, recommendations, and easy access to underlying data.
The AI Health Coach also analyses data from the Fitbit app and third-party devices via Health Connect, making it a comprehensive health and fitness companion. The Pixel Watch 4's Raise-to-talk feature, which allows users to lift the watch to their face to activate the AI assistant, further enhances its convenience.
The Pixel Watch 4's satellite emergency communication system, a first for smartwatches, is a significant safety feature. Developed and operated by the US company Skylo Technologies in cooperation with Google, using Qualcomm technology, this feature allows the watch to connect to satellites for emergency calls or texts, even when there's no mobile network coverage.
The Pixel Watch 4's peak brightness of 3,000 nits matches the best from Samsung and the Apple Watch Ultra 2, ensuring clear visibility under bright sunlight. The device also supports wireless charging and dual-band GPS.
The Pixel Watch 4 will be launched in early October, after the Apple Watch 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3. With its blend of style, power, and innovative features, the Pixel Watch 4 is poised to make a strong impact in the smartwatch market.
