In the picturesque town of Vollrathsruhe, an observation tower at the entrance of the nature park has become a subject of debate. The once impressive structure, intended to offer visitors stunning views of Burg Schlitz and Lake Malchin, is now infamously known as the "Tower without a View."

Wild trees have grown to the height of the observation tower's platform, blocking the once clear view of nature. This unusual situation has caused a stir, with some suggesting it could potentially attract new visitor groups due to its unique status. However, for many, the tower visit has become a "waste of time," with disappointed tourists expressing their displeasure to tour guide Holger Schröder.

The state forest service has proposed a taller tower as a potential solution to the problem. Yet, Manfred Baum, board member of the State Forestry Administration in Malchin, suggests two alternatives: extending the tower or removing a few trees. Removing a few trees, according to Baum, could be part of normal forest management, but Christoph Kruse, managing director of the agricultural society, proposes creating an orchard instead of the overgrown trees in front of the tower.

The property of the observation tower is leased by the Hohen Wangelin Agricultural Society.
