Traffic Mishap on A59: Unqualified Driver Causes Accident, Police Revoke Driver's Permit

On the morning of August 26, 2020, a traffic accident occurred on the Bundesautobahn 59 near the motorway junctions Bonn-Nordost and Sankt Augustin. The incident, originally reported by news aktuell from Police Cologne, involved a Seat driving against the direction of traffic.

The 37-year-old driver of the Seat is currently under investigation for endangering road traffic, driving under the influence of drugs, and driving under the influence of alcohol. According to a breathalyzer test, the driver was over the legal limit for alcohol (1.5 promille).

Upon arrival at the scene, police officers found the Seat standing against the direction of traffic. The driver, who admitted to consuming cannabis the previous day, was taken into custody. Several blood samples were taken from the driver by a doctor for further analysis.
