Traffic Police in Warendorf District, joined by local law enforcement and schoolchildren, now oversee traffic safety around schools in the district following the resumption of classes in Warendorf.

In the coming weeks, roads in Warendorf will see an increase in traffic as the new school term begins. With around 3,014 children starting school in Kreis Warendorf, the Road Safety Association, police, and municipalities are joining forces to ensure a safe coexistence for all road users.

Dr. Olaf Gericke, the head of the Warendorf Police during the reporting period, has emphasised the need for road users to be considerate, responsible, and attentive due to the increased risk to young road users. The "big holidays" in North Rhine-Westphalia are ending next week, and speeding drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians who do not follow rules will be the focus of increased patrols.

As part of the statewide "Brake Yourself! School has started" campaign, many roads will be marked with banners. These banners aim to make the start of school visible and contribute to a safe coexistence of all road users. The Road Safety Association also has a special "PARENTS' INFORMATION for the start of school" that offers tips, suggestions, and arguments for safe road use.

Traffic safety advisors and local district services will assist new school starters in learning safe routes to school. Parents are encouraged to practice the school route with their children before school starts to familiarise them with the route and ensure their safety.

Outside of office hours, the Warendorf Police Control Center can be contacted at [email protected]. During office hours, the Warendorf Police Press Office can be reached at [email protected].

Banners and posters are being used not only to raise awareness about the increased traffic but also to highlight the dangers associated with it. The Warendorf Police will increase patrols on school routes during the first few weeks of school to ensure the safety of all road users, especially the young ones.

Let's all work together to make the start of the new school term a safe and smooth one in Warendorf.
