Tragic Southwest Side incident as a 15-year-old youth succumbs to gunfire, according to authorities.
In the early hours of Monday, a tragic incident unfolded on South St. Louis Avenue in Ashburn, Chicago. A 15-year-old boy, identified as Enrique Gomez, was shot and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries later at Christ Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The shooting took place just after 3:10 a.m., leaving another victim, a 43-year-old man, who sustained a graze wound to the nose. The 43-year-old was also taken to Christ Hospital but is reported to be in good condition.
The exact circumstances leading up to the shooting are currently unclear, as the Chicago Police Department (CPD) did not immediately provide details about the events. Area One detectives are now investigating the incident.
The shooting occurred in the 8200-block of South St. Louis Avenue. As of now, no one is in custody in relation to the shooting, and the identity of the person who murdered Enrique Gomez remains unknown.
