Transforms Rotterdam's Koopgoot into a Thousands-Strong Urban Garden of Kalanchoës, Encouraging Silence in Favor of Planting

In the heart of Rotterdam, the Koopgoot shopping street was transformed into a vibrant city garden on August 23. The Kalanchoe Garden, filled with over 2,000 Kalanchoe plants, bloomed for up to 100 days, bringing a splash of green and color to the city.

The event, organised by the Koopgoot, aimed to demonstrate the ease of contributing to a greener living environment, particularly in urbanized cities like Rotterdam. The combination of shopping, experiencing, and greening perfectly aligned with the vision of the Koopgoot.

Plant experts from SlijkermanKalanchoe, GP Powerplants, Pligt Professionals, Plant company Van Veldhuizen, and H. van der Knaap were present to talk with visitors about the plants' background and share useful care tips.

A large plant wall carrying the message "Niet lullen, maar planten" (translated as "Stop talking, start planting") was the main eye-catcher of the event. Visitors received an instant Polaroid photo with the plant wall, and each plant was handed out in a pink tote bag from Kalanchoe.nl and the Koopgoot, complete with care tips.

The Kalanchoe plants, known for their sturdy flowers and glossy leaves, are ideal for those who enjoy greenery but don't necessarily have a green thumb. They are suitable for both indoors and outdoors, making them perfect for balconies and terraces in Rotterdam.

Sander van Genderen of GP Powerplants provided information about the plants' care, explaining that the Kalanchoe Garden requires very little maintenance. This made it an attractive option for those looking to add some greenery to their urban living spaces.

Sonja de Wild, marketing manager of the Koopgoot, expressed satisfaction with the event's positive reactions. The event left a "wonderful green trail" as the plants found their way to homes, balconies, and gardens across Rotterdam, creating a lasting impact on the city's green landscape.
