Hurricane Lorena, currently a Category 1 storm with sustained wind speeds of up to 130 km/h, is making its way towards northwest Mexico. According to meteorologists, the hurricane's strength may fluctuate before reaching the mainland.

The storm, located approximately 185 kilometers southwest of the resort town of Cabo San Lucas, is expected to impact popular tourist destinations in the state of Baja California Sur. The Mexican weather service predicts that Hurricane Lorena may temporarily reach Category 2 over the sea before weakening to a tropical storm upon landfall on the west coast of the Baja California peninsula, probably arriving by Friday morning local time.

The predicted wind speeds at landfall are expected to be lower than over the ocean, with variability possible, and forecasting accuracy is within typical meteorological limits for short-term hurricane tracking.

In response to the approaching hurricane, an emergency civil protection meeting was held, and the state of Baja California Sur, including popular tourist destinations, is on high alert. Residents of affected areas have been advised to stay away from water bodies due to the impending storm.

The state government, led by Governor VΓctor Castro, has announced that school lessons have been suspended due to the heavy rainfall expected from Hurricane Lorena. After landfall, Hurricane Lorena will continue to move eastward over land towards the Gulf of California.

The storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall to the state of Baja California Sur, potentially causing flooding and landslides. The path of Hurricane Lorena after landfall is expected to be towards the Gulf of California.

As the hurricane approaches, the state is preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Lorena, with residents and tourists urged to take necessary precautions and follow the instructions of local authorities.
