Trump and Musk appear to have reconciled their relationship, suggested by their recent Twitter interaction.
In a turn of events, tech mogul Elon Musk and former US President Donald Trump found themselves at odds once again, this time over a series of social media posts and a White House tech summit.
The tension between the two began when Musk commented with a laughing emoji and the fire emoji on one of Trump's posts. This seemingly innocuous interaction sparked rumours that the pair could be on cordial terms, but it was short-lived.
Just a week later, Musk took his posts a step further, commenting on another Trump post with a series of emojis. This time, his comments led to speculation about a potential reconciliation. However, Trump hit back on Thursday, saying he was "very disappointed in Musk."
The incident came to a head when Musk claimed that Trump was "in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public." This allegation, without any credible or specific sources, caused a stir in the public sphere.
Meanwhile, the White House tech summit, hosted by President Trump and including several top Silicon Valley executives, excluding Musk, took place on Thursday. The dinner followed an artificial intelligence event hosted by First Lady Melania Trump. Among the attendees were Apple's Tim Cook, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, and OpenAI's Sam Altman.
However, it was Musk who was noticeably absent from the event. Trump did not invite the SpaceX and Tesla CEO to the summit, a move that further fueled the tension between the two.
In a separate incident, Cracker Barrel, an American chain of restaurants, attempted to modernize its logo by removing the man known as 'Uncle Hershel.' This decision led to a wave of public outrage, with the brand being accused of removing tradition from the logo. The backlash was so intense that just a week later, Cracker Barrel reversed the logo back to its original form.
In a surprising twist, Trump posted an AI-generated video of himself shaking hands with the man in the 'Cracker Barrel' logo, adding fuel to the fire of speculation surrounding the brand's decision.
In June, Musk and Trump fell out in a bitter rift after Musk condemned the president's "Big Beautiful Bill." Since then, their relationship has been fraught with tension, with each incident serving to further widen the divide between the two.
Despite the rift, Musk later apologized for his posts about Trump, writing: "I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far." This apology, while not resolving the ongoing tension, indicates a potential for reconciliation in the future.
As the saga between Musk and Trump continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the world of tech and politics continues to be a hotbed of drama and intrigue.
