In the ongoing African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, several exciting matches have taken place, shaping the standings in various groups.

In Group G, Algeria maintained their lead with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Guinea. The result leaves Algeria four points clear at the top of the group.

Meanwhile, in Group D, Libya currently sits in third place, just one point behind Cameroon and two behind leaders Cape Verde. An intriguing clash between Cape Verde and Libya is scheduled for Wednesday, with Cape Verde holding a game in hand.

Tunisia, making their seventh appearance at the World Cup, have secured a commanding position in Group J. With a 22-point tally from eight games, they are currently 10 points ahead of second-placed Namibia.

In a thrilling match, Tunisia qualified for the 2026 World Cup with a 1-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea. The winning goal was scored by Alexander Djiku, following a Jordan Ayew corner.

Elsewhere, Ghana secured a 1-0 victory over Mali, with the goal coming in the 94th minute courtesy of Mohamed Ben Romdhane. Ghana also recorded a 1-0 win over Eswatini, thanks to a goal from Muad Eisay.

Madagascar recovered from a halftime deficit to secure a 3-1 home win over Chad. Caddy Warren, Rayan Raveloson, and Hakim Abdallah were the goalscorers for Madagascar, while Chad's goal was an own score by a Madagascar defender.

Mozambique beat Botswana 2-0, with goals from Witi and Faisal Banga, and Morocco won 2-0 in Zambia, with Youssef En Nesyri and Hamza Igamane finding the net for the Moroccan team.

Uganda secured a 2-0 victory over Somalia, with Allan Okello scoring a penalty and Jude Ssemugabi also finding the back of the net.

In the South American qualifiers, Argentina currently holds the highest points total with 38 points, as of the latest standings.

The 2026 World Cup will be staged in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, taking place from June 11 to July 19. The nine group winners of the African qualifiers will qualify for the tournament, with four best runners-up going into playoffs in November.
