In a bid to ensure the safety of all citizens and preserve public order, the GNR has been actively targeting drivers performing dangerous maneuvers and acrobatics in public spaces across the Algarve region. Specifically, the focus has been on Albufeira and areas under the Faro Territorial Command.

Over the weekend, the Territorial Command of Faro, through the Traffic Detachment of Faro, conducted an operation to curb this phenomenon. The operation, supported by the Intervention Detachment (DI) of the Territorial Command of Faro, resulted in the seizure of 20 vehicles, including eight motorcycles.

The gatherings of car and motorcycle drivers in public places to perform these stunts were the root cause of concern. The GNR states that these gatherings put the physical integrity of participants, other road users, and third parties at risk.

As a result of the operation, over 50 fines were issued for violations of the Highway Code and complementary legislation. Three fines were issued for failure to undergo mandatory periodic inspection, two for lack of sufficient legal driving license, and three for irregularities in tires.

The GNR will remain vigilant to this phenomenon and continue to develop prevention and surveillance actions in the region's locations associated with this type of practice. The organisation aims to ensure the safety of all citizens and the preservation of public order, and will continue to take action against such dangerous behaviours.
