Mountain mishaps leave two young females gravely hurt - Two ladies sustain severe injuries in steep mountain accidents

In a series of unfortunate events, two women, aged 28 and 19, have sustained serious injuries in separate incidents that took place in the Berchtesgaden district over the weekend.

On Friday, the 28-year-old woman from Munich fell into Lake Königssee. Her companion, realising the gravity of the situation, promptly called the emergency services. The woman was eventually rescued by the water rescue service and flown to the hospital by helicopter.

The following day, the 19-year-old woman took a wrong turn in the fog during her descent in Schneibstein, Schönau am Königssee. She ended up in a gully, where she fell over a rocky cliff. The young woman managed to call the emergency services herself to report the incident. Mountain rescuers were able to locate her through calls and phone calls, and she was subsequently flown to the hospital by rescue helicopter.

Unfortunately, both women have sustained serious injuries. The 19-year-old woman suffered injuries to her face. The rescue helicopter team that found her and transported her to the hospital is not specifically named in the search results. However, it is known that the Wasserwacht (water rescue service) was involved in rescuing another person nearby.

Interestingly, both incidents occurred in areas that are not well-marked on current maps. The East Bank Trail, where the 19-year-old woman had her accident, is not marked and is no longer checked for safety and condition.

In both cases, the swift actions of emergency services and mountain rescuers undoubtedly played a crucial role in the women's survival. The incidents have been reported by the police and serve as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of outdoor activities and the importance of preparation and caution.
