Two-vehicle accident on A2 highway in Alcácer do Sal causing severe injuries to both drivers

In the Setúbal district, an unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday evening that involved a motorcycle and a caravan on the South Motorway (A2), specifically in the Alcácer do Sal area.

The Alcácer do Sal Volunteer Firefighters and the Sub-regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of the Alentejo Coast reported the accident. Two individuals were seriously injured in the collision.

Despite the incident happening during a popular holiday period, the exact names of the injured parties have not been disclosed to the public. The hospital where the injured were transported, Hospital Garcia de Orta, is located in Almada, Setúbal district.

Immediately following the accident, the South Motorway was closed, causing significant traffic disruptions, particularly for those travelling from the Algarve to Lisbon. As of two hours later, the road closure remained in effect, leading to traffic jams on the return journey.
