Ukrainian drones cause destruction at residential buildings and a commercial center in Krasnodar
In the early hours of August 30, the Kuban region in southern Russia was targeted by a mass attack of enemy drones, according to reports. The series of attacks, which occurred between 21:00 on August 29 and 07:00 on August 30 Moscow time, saw 30 drones being shot down over the Black Sea.
The Krasnodar Krai was particularly affected, with Russian air defense systems successfully downing 11 of the drones in the sky. However, the debris from these downed drones caused damage in several areas. In the village of Yablonovsky in the Republic of Adygea, private homes were damaged, and a production workshop was also affected. The facade of the City Center shopping mall in Krasnodar was also damaged.
Perhaps the most significant incident was the fire that broke out in several homes in Yablonovsky due to falling debris from the drones. One resident was injured and received medical assistance. Thankfully, witnesses reported that no one was home at the time of the incident in Yablonovsky.
Residents of Krasnodar heard the first explosions around 2:00 AM. Witnesses reported seeing smoke in the distance after the strikes. In Krasnodar, 24 homes had damaged windows due to the drone attack. Debris from a downed drone also damaged the Krasnodar Refinery, causing a fire that spread to 300 square meters. However, the fire was successfully extinguished by 10:05.
Krasnodar Mayor Yevgeny Naumov addressed the city's residents via his Telegram channel, expressing his concern and assuring the public that the city's authorities are working to restore order and safety. As of now, there is no verified public information identifying who ordered the drone attacks.
This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing tension in the region and the need for vigilance and preparedness. The authorities are urging the public to stay informed and to follow any safety instructions that may be issued.
