Uncertainty lingers over the Community's energy policy as the Commission has yet to make a decision.
In the aftermath of the tragic cable car accident in Lisbon, a mix-up has emerged involving a German citizen. Initially, Portuguese media reported that a German father had perished in the accident, with his wife seriously injured and their child lightly injured. However, it has now been confirmed that the German citizen was not among the 16 fatalities.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the "Elevador da Gloria" funicular derailed and crashed into a building. The accident resulted in the loss of at least two South Koreans, a Swiss, and five Portuguese.
A Hamburg family found themselves at the centre of a dramatic mix-up. The family had arrived at the morgue, believing they had lost their 46-year-old son in the Lisbon accident. However, they did not find him.
The police in Lisbon have since confirmed the identity of the German citizen who was initially reported as one of the fatal victims. It appears that the injured person is indeed the man from Hamburg. However, his exact location and name remain undisclosed, as the search results only mention a 27-year-old injured man near Asklepios-Klinik Altona in Hamburg and a 4-year-old boy seriously injured in Hamburg-Rahlstedt, but no information on a 46-year-old injured man or his whereabouts is found.
The relatives of the injured man showed a policeman a photo of the relative in Lisbon, which led to the identification. The man was subsequently identified as an unidentified injured person in a hospital.
Meanwhile, the boy's 45-year-old mother is in critical but stable condition in the hospital of Santa Maria in Lisbon. The cause of the accident on the historic railway is currently under investigation, as such an incident has never occurred before. The Foreign Office has now clarified that no Germans are among the 16 dead.
This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the unpredictability of life and the importance of accurate information in times of crisis. The Hamburg family and the injured man can take solace in the fact that they have been reunited, and the investigation into the Lisbon cable car accident continues.
