Union and SPD neck-and-neck in Allensbach polls

In the latest Allensbach Institute survey conducted between September 16 and 23, a total of 1,554 people were interviewed, shedding light on the current political landscape in Germany.

The Green Party, led by chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock, has shown a slight increase in popularity, securing 16% of the vote, a 0.5 point gain since the previous Allensbach poll. The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU), with chancellor candidate Armin Laschet, remain steady at 25%.

The Social Democratic Party (SPD), with chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz, has seen a slight dip, losing one point compared to two weeks ago, and currently stands at 26%. The Free Democratic Party (FDP), with its 10.5% share, has gained one point, maintaining its steady growth.

The Alternative for Germany (AfD) has experienced a more significant drop, losing two points and now standing at 10%. The Left Party has also seen a slight decrease, losing one point to reach 5%. The share of other parties has increased by 1.5 points, totalling 7.5%.

Notably, the SPD's election poster was recently photographed in Berlin-Kreuzberg, as reported by dts Nachrichtenagentur. The Greens and the AfD have shown a decline since the previous survey, while the FDP has shown no significant gain or loss.

These shifts in the polls indicate a dynamic and competitive political landscape, with the election just around the corner. The Allensbach Institute will continue to monitor these trends to provide insights into the evolving political landscape in Germany.
