The police in Rhein-Erft-Kreis have apprehended a 17-year-old fugitive driver who attempted to evade police control in Bergheim-Kenten on Thursday, 21st August. The incident occurred during a traffic surveillance operation on "Am Sodagraben" street.

According to a statement from the police press and public relations department, the suspect was stopped by the officers but managed to escape with a 15-year-old witness. The pair later abandoned a car at a nearby fast-food restaurant's parking lot.

Upon further investigation, the police found another occupant of the vehicle and another teenager who claimed to have been driving the vehicle. The suspect, it appears, did not have a valid driver's license.

The investigation by the traffic commission is ongoing, and it has been reported that the suspect will now have to face a procedure due to the incident. Interestingly, a 26-year-old witness claimed ownership of the car, while another occupant of the vehicle admitted to being the passenger in the vehicle.

In addition, the police have filed a complaint against the owner of the car for allowing the suspect to drive. The public can reach the police press and public relations department at 02271 81-3305, 02271 81-3309, or via email at [email protected] for more information.

The police advise the public to always comply with the law and to ensure they have a valid driver's license before operating a vehicle. This incident serves as a reminder that evading the police can lead to serious consequences.
