Zenith and USM Collaborate to Create the Zenith Defy Chronograph USM

Zenith, the Swiss luxury watchmaker, has partnered with USM, a renowned Swiss furniture brand, to create the Zenith Defy Chronograph USM. This high-end watch combines architectural design with vintage charm, drawing inspiration from both brands' visionary innovations in the 1960s.

The Zenith Defy Chronograph USM is a limited edition timepiece, with only 60 pieces produced for each dial color worldwide. The watch is inspired by the geometric sharpness of the historical Defy, housed in a 37.3-mm stainless steel case. The "Ladder" bracelet, another design classic in the Zenith collection, completes the watch, developed by Gay Frères for Zenith in 1969.

At the heart of the Zenith Defy Chronograph USM is the El Primero 400 movement. This movement controls the chronograph functions and a discreet date window at 4:30. Based on the 3019 PHC from 1969, the El Primero 400 movement has 36,000 semi-oscillations per hour and a 55-hour power reserve. The decorated oscillating weight of the movement bears both the Zenith star logo and the USM emblem.

The watch features an octagonal shape, a 14-sided bezel, and pump-style chronograph pushers, giving it an architectural feel with a touch of vintage charm. The watch is available through selected Zenith boutiques and authorized retailers, including the color-matched USM Haller box.

The USM Haller watch box serves as storage and also as a standalone design object. It has three compartments and can be extended and reconfigured, making it a versatile addition to any watch collection. Each edition of the Zenith Defy Chronograph USM comes with a custom-made USM Haller watch box.

The collaboration between Zenith and USM was initiated by the two well-known Swiss companies themselves. The partnership was announced in 2025, bridging the stylistic gap between modular furniture and high-end watchmaking. Both brands were shaped by visionary innovations in the 1960s: Zenith by the legendary El Primero movement, and USM by the USM Haller System.

The Zenith Defy Chronograph USM is priced at 12,000 Euros per model. The watch is a testament to the shared values of both brands: innovation, quality, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of design.
