Unscrupulous Individual in Hardware Store Apprehended: Repeatedly Used Pepper Spray Among Theft, According to Polish Police
In the heart of Middle Franconia, a 20-year-old man has been suspected of involvement in a string of thefts at local hardware stores over the weekend. The series of events began on Friday afternoon in Fürth's Fritz-Gastreich-Straße, where the man targeted a hardware store.
The man, unidentified at the time, took items from the display and left without paying. Despite not being apprehended, this marked the start of a troubling pattern.
On Saturday, the same individual is believed to have struck again at a hardware store in Erlangen's Neumühle. Later that day, he returned to the same Erlangen store and stole items from the sanitary department.
The following day, Monday, the man attacked an employee with pepper spray in Erlangen. This altercation led to a struggle on the floor, requiring the intervention of other employees and customers. The man was provisionally arrested by a patrol from Erlangen-Stadt police station at the scene.
The man's spree did not end there. He also attacked an employee with pepper spray at the initial store in Fürth.
When confronted about his actions, he attacked a 75-year-old employee with pepper spray and fled the scene. The man was later found to have stolen a spray can from a hardware store in Erlangen.
Investigations revealed that officers found more suspected stolen goods in the man's vehicle, including items from earlier that morning and the previous day.
The public prosecutor's office has applied for the 20-year-old to be remanded in custody. The series of incidents has caused concern among local residents and businesses, and the police continue to investigate the matter further.
