In Contra Costa County, a tragic event has shaken the community. A 28-year-old woman, Daniella Stephanie Avila, was fatally shot on August 26, 2023, at around 10:30 p.m. The shooting occurred while Avila was driving a black BMW through the intersection of Mariposa Street and Vaqueros Avenue in Rodeo.

Despite her injuries, Avila managed to drive to the area of Rodeo Avenue in an attempt to get help. Paramedics responded, but unfortunately, Avila died at the scene. The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the case, with Detective Jared McCann from the Homicide Unit leading the investigation.

The Sheriff's Office is appealing to the public for any information regarding the case. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling (866) 846-3592 or by emailing [email protected]. Detective A. In addition to this unfortunate incident, the county is also grappling with wildfires that have issued evacuation warnings in Alamo and Rodeo. The wildfires are straining crews, adding to the community's troubles.

Our hearts go out to Avila's family, including her seven-year-old son, during this difficult time. We encourage anyone with information to come forward and help bring justice for Avila.
